In 1947, renowned architects Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Ignazio Gardella, and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua came together to found Azucena. With a focus on formal elegance, understated luxury, and aesthetic purity, the Italian brand quickly gained high regard. Named after the gypsy Azucena in the opera “Il Trovatore,” the brand initially created collections to adorn buildings that the architects themselves designed. However, they soon expanded to produce individual pieces as well.
B&B Italia, known for its preservation efforts of Italy’s rich heritage, acquired Azucena and is relaunching it in 2018. The “modern classics” collection includes iconic designs by Luigi Caccia Dominioni from the late 1940s and onwards, featuring chairs, sofas, tables, and lamps that embody the essence of Italian design and showcase unparalleled style and quality.
